A standard piano tuning involves adjusting the tension of each string to ensure the piano is in perfect pitch. This service includes a thorough tuning of all 88 keys and minor adjustments to optimize sound quality. It typically takes 2-3 hours and is suitable for pianos that have been tuned recently. Unless there is a specific reason not to, all pianos will be tuned to standard temperament and to A-440.

If it’s been a long time since your piano was last tuned or if it’s recently been moved, it may require a “double” tuning. The first step is a standard tuning, followed by, or along the way a fine tuning to address any resistance due to "piano memory." This process helps the piano hold its tune longer, with a follow-up visit recommended in about 6 months. In addition, I will go over the instrument thoroughly and give you an overview of it’s overall mechanical and artistic condition! The “follow up” tuning will be a standard tuning!

if the hammers on your piano have deep grooves in them - and/or your piano has a very harsh tone, your piano would highly benefit from voicing. In this service, each hammer is individually and painstakingly reshaped to remove the compacted felt, making the grooves disappear and bring fresh felt to the strings. Also, an “aeration” process is brought to each hammer with a special tool that puts small holes in the felt to further soften the hammers. This is often one of the most immediately noticeable things that can be done to a piano so it no longer sounds “old” and takes the edge off of the sound of an instrument.

Replacement and tuning of missing treble strings (the silver ones!).

Bass strings are unique to each piano and range of notes, so any replacement has to be custom ordered and is included in the price. Once the string need is determined a replacement usually can be installed within 1-2 weeks
