Here are several examples of recent Virtual Choir productions this spring:

VIRTUAL CHOIRS

I have spent years gathering the knowledge and equipment to be able to put together virtual choirs. In this unusual time, there is increased demand for this service, and my wife has encouraged me to honor my time and skill accordingly. As a choral director of 20+ years as well as a life long lover and learner of technology, your choir is in good hands! The price of Virtual Choir services include:

• Hosting a “one stop shopping” web page with all the resources your students/singers will need. (Music, rehearsal tracks, conductor tracks, registration for participant information, etc.)

• Production of rehearsal tracks and conductor tracks. One for each voice part with that part emphasized in the audio track.

• Instructional video for your singers to records their videos and how to submit them to me.

• Audio scrubbing of all the submitted videos (including noise reduction, eliminating as much as possible noises that are not singing. Basic sweetening of the sound is also done (some reverb, which helps pull the choir together in a more “natural” sounding acoustic).

• Syncing of the audio files to form the core of the choir, which is the beautiful music. Balance is done per section, and then those sections are combined and balanced and combined with accompaniment as the piece requires.

• Production of the video itself, which includes cropping of each video, basic color correction, and forming the “choir” on the screen (this is done one performer video at a time). This is then, of course, synced up with the audio track previously produced!

• If YOU would like to do the conductor track, we can certainly do that, but it has to be exactly done with whatever accompaniment they are using. We can discuss the specifics on that depending on the piece and and your vision.

COSTS IS DEPENDENT ON THE NUMBER OF SINGERS. In addition to the groundwork that has to be laid for each choir, ever individual video increases the number of hours. The average virtual choir takes roughly 20-50 hours depending on the number of videos and the length of the piece.

• 8-15 voices - $750

• 16-36 voices - $950

• 37-52 voices - $1,400

• 52-72 voices - $1,800

OR - depending on which comes to a lower fee for you - $500 project fee, plus $20 per participant (video).

ANALOG TO DIGITAL TRANSFER SERVICES

In order to offer you the best possible result for your money, and get exactly, and only what you need, I have a pricing structure that will fit your needs!

CONVERSION BASE PRICE is $20 per "UNIT" of media.

A "unit" consists of:

1 VHS/BetaMax tape (2 hours or less, $30 for any tape over 2 hours)
1 cassette (both sides)
1 microcassette (both sides)
1 8mm camcorder tape (this can be Hi8, Digital 8 or 8mm)
1 MiniDV tape
25 slides
20 "stereo" slides
25 photos
50 feet of 8mm FILM video footage (3 inch reel)
1 LP album (both sides)
1 "Reel to Reel" tape
(contact me if you have something other than what's listed here.   I very likely can still convert it for you!

The above includes basic color correction, cropping, sound reduction, etc., as well as online access to ALL your media for you to download at your own leisure (12 months of access!) This is what gets your analog media to digital format! If a video tape contains multiple “events” I will do my best to separate them out so that you have individual videos for each event (as opposed to a single LONG file that has many events in on video). I will do my best to the equivalent for audio media (cassettes) etc. and label the files based on how your media is labelled.

EDITING SERVICES:

BASIC EDITING: If you would like anything additional added to the footage (title frames, lower thirds, etc.), then this is a more time consuming process that I am happy to provide to spice up your media. Basic editing includes dividing a single tape into it’s individual videos and cassettes into its individual tracks.

ADVANCED EDITING: To add intros, outros, lower thirds, etc. is just $2 per video.

If you are looking to take your original media and take it beyond simple editing and re-edit and turn it into a new creation, that is something we can discuss individually. I have extensive audio, video and film editing experience, and would be very happy to work with you to create something special for you and your family! Typical rate is $40/hour.

PHYSICAL MEDIA CREATION:

A flat rate of $10 per original CD/DVD is charged (ie, not including multiple copies of the same CD/DVD).   Often multiple videos (especially old 8mm videos) can be fit on a single DVD, so this is the most cost effective way to get physical media made of your new digital files!

A flash drive can be provided with all of your media as well for just $10 (with the exception of very large projects, all the resulting files can be put on a single flash drive!

DISC COPYING:

$2 / CD, $3 / DVD (source can either be a CD/DVD that I've created or a CD/DVD you already have that you want legally copied!)  ($1 per disc additional if you want the disc professionally labeled - labels are surprisingly expensive!)

DISC RIPPING:

$2/CD, $5/DVD (ie, if you have a DVD of home videos and you just want them to be online, I can rip them for you!)

***As a general rule, I ask for a %50 down payment to get the process started, with full payment expected upon satisfactory delivery. Some pay all up front, which is always acceptable, and I guarantee to be open and communicate my process and complete the job as soon as is possible. If you have a specific deadline you wish me to meet, just let me know!
